A dazzling collection of songs and dances from the Sephardic tradition of early Spain performed by the acclaimed ensemble "Brio". In Jewish culture, music has always played an integral role in day-to-day life, providing us a musical thumbprint of local histories. The Sephardic musical tradition is no exception, as the Iberian Jews inhabited Spain well before Roman times, soaking up the practices of surrounding cultures.
From the shadows of medieval Spain, this music travelled with the dispersed Jewish communities throughout the Mediterranean basin and beyond, even reaching the shores of the new world. A chamber ensemble dedicated to the thoughtful performance of Sephardic song and dances. With an array of medieval and renaissance instruments, and the amazing voice of Jose Lemos, this program has delighted audiences both nationally and internationally.
